Iran Reopens Airspace for International Flights

--
Tehran: Iran has reopened much of its airspace to international flights after a ceasefire according to Majid Akhavan, the spokesman for the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development on Saturday (28/7/2025). The move comes after Iran reopened its eastern airspace on Wednesday (25/6/2025), following a ceasefire after 12 days of conflict between Iran and Israel.
Quoted from AFP, the airspace over central and western Iran is now open for international overflights only. However, domestic flights remain limited to eastern Iran.
Flights to and from airports in the north, south, and west of Iran, including Tehran's Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini international airports are still suspended. Travellers are advised not to visit closed airports until further notice.
“In addition to eastern airspace, western corridors now allow international overflights,” said Akhavan. He urged people to check only official sources for updates.
Mashhad Airport in Eastern Iran and Chabahar Airport in Southeast Iran are currently operational for both domestic and international flights. Currently, no timeline has been announced for reopening flights in other regions.
Other airports remain shut since Iran closed its skies on June 13. The closure began after Israeli airstrikes and Iranian missile retaliation escalated the conflict.
