Jakarta:  Indonesia continues its efforts to strengthen global trade competitiveness through the use of strategic instruments such as the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS), overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) under the Ministry of Trade.

The Vice Minister of Trade, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, made the statement during the export release ceremony of 57.6 tons of Robusta coffee from the WRS warehouse in Subang, West Java, to China, Monday (28/7/2025). The shipment, consisting of three 20-foot containers, is exported by Zhanjiang Fruit Home Trading Co., Ltd., with an estimated export value of USD 264,960 or approximately IDR 4.31 billion.

"The WRS is not merely a tool for delayed sales or financing. It is a platform for empowering commodity owners and boosting Indonesia’s global trade competitiveness," said Vice Minister Roro.

The export was facilitated by the Gunung Luhur Berkah Producers Cooperative (KPGLB), which manages the Subang WRS warehouse. The cooperative has established export contracts with buyers in several countries, including Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Vietnam, and most recently, China.

In her remarks, Vice Minister Roro emphasized that despite global economic challenges, including climate-related disruptions and growing international demand, Indonesia remains committed to increasing its export volume.

“We are optimistic that Indonesia can seize these opportunities, especially since our trade balance has continued to post a surplus in the first half of 2025. As of May 2025, our total export value reached USD 24.61 billion, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 9.68 percent, largely driven by non-oil and gas exports,”  she said.

She added that the WRS is one of the Ministry's key strategies to meet global market demands by offering measurable quantity, tested quality, and reliable supply continuity.

"The WRS is not only a domestic solution but a strategic response to global market signals that demand trustworthy trade partners. For buyers and importers, the WRS serves as a seal of trust," she emphasized.

Roro underscored that the successful export of coffee through the WRS marks a milestone in Indonesia’s efforts to enhance commodity competitiveness in global markets. She was accompanied at the event by Subang Regent Reynaldy Putra Andita, Bappebti Head Tirta Karma Senjaya, and KPGLB Chairman Miftahudin Shaf.

In his report, Bappebti Head Tirta Karma Senjaya stated that from 2020 to 2024, the average WRS transaction value grew by 112 percent. In 2025, as of July 16, total transactions under the WRS reached IDR 583.84 billion, with financing worth IDR 285.9 million provided by seven financial institutions.

"The WRS currently covers 27 commodities. Of these, 18 types have already been traded using warehouse receipts, including rice, corn, soybeans, coffee, tobacco, cocoa, pepper, and tea," said Tirta.

He also noted that warehouse receipts have been issued in 138 districts and cities across 25 provinces in Indonesia. Tirta expressed hope that the Subang WRS warehouse could serve as a model for other WRS warehouses nationwide to support commodity export expansion.
